We finally left Montana and went to North Dakota. We stopped in Medora, and visited Teddy Roosevelt National Park badlands. Hotter than blazes here too. The first photo below is sunset the last night in Montana, pretty flat country. We first went to the information center in Beach, ND. Then we saw the ‘Home Sweet home’ site.
Sunset and Beach, we are at the beach?? No such luck, just Beach ND.
Home on the range-on the side of a hill and the turn off
The badlands are described at no good land, Hell with the fires put out and the great American desert. The first cabin Teddy Roosevelt lived in in ND, on the Maltese cross ranch.
prairie dog town, and a HUGE buffalo by the side of the road.
wild flowers
John under a stunted tree. There was a nice 5 mile trail thru the badlands that looked really pretty. If it were not so hot and we had a ride back to the car on the other end we would have gone. Instead we drove the loop in the car with the air conditioner on and took short scenic hikes.
some badlands
bad lands, a herd of wild horses and buffalo on the road
hoo doo, Little Missouri river
a herd of buffalo, The smoke stack from the slaughter house that was in Medora in the 1930’s, It was bulilt for the large number of cattle ranches in the area. It later burnt down.
We did not like the RV park there, you can see us crammed in right behind an RV, behind a van and behind the dumpsters and RV dump station. And one big car. the whole town of Medora was kind of a crowded tourist circus. They have a famous musical here. We are not really musical kind of people. Restaurants, curio shops, galleries, western kind of touristy things.
