The drive thru Florida to get here took 5 hours to go 180 miles. Solid towns. High rise hotels and beach houses. But once we got to Port Saint Joe, to the Peninsula State park it because wonderful. 8 miles of beach on both sides of the peninsula-wilderness preserve—no houses, only a campground. White sand beach, blue green water and hardly any one on the beach. 70’s and nice.
bus in the campground. White sand, sea oats and blue water . The dunes are a very sensitive habitat. There is a rare type of mouse that lives there. Sea turtles lay eggs on the beaches. Tons of shell fish live in the sea grass. Vegetation holds the sand in the dunes and protects the main land from storms. If you walk on the vegetation it kills it. You cannot walk on the dunes, only on the boardwalks over the dunes to the beach.
