John made this wonderful butternut bisque last night for dinner. This ‘farm’ house along the coast is really a lookout for Japanese subs , built right after the bombing in Pearl Harbor.
The coast near Klamath, Calif. A twisted redwood stump.
John in what is left of burnt redwood stump. These green leaves are rhododendrons, in the spring they have huge red and pink flowers.
Ferns and moss along Prairie Creek in the redwoods. Wow, the sun came out and burnt off the fog! It was sunny all day. Don’t remember how long it has been since we saw the sun all day.
The sun and what is left of the fog in the redwoods.
The bus at the Mad River Rapid RV resort in Arcata, California. Don’t see any rapids, but it is a nice park. Old town Eureka, Calif.
Romano Gabriel spent 30 years building this wooden sculpture garden in his front yard from vegetable crates. It eventually almost obscured his house. It became a national and international tourist attraction. In 1977 the California Arts council designated it as a cultural landmark of folk art. It is now displayed behind glass in old town Eureka. The reflection made it almost impossible to photograph.
