May 15-16, 2020 Shoshone, California

95 and sunny today. Sure glad we have this nice shady spot.

I spent the day working on my new masterpiece. It is pine needles and a piece of birch bark. Both sides of it. The black beads are Joshua tree seeds. The center is a piece of dichroic glass I cast. The top is the part is inside. It has glass beads around it. The bottom part of the photo is the bottom of the basket, I think that side looks better.

Sunset tonight. Our neighbors  Nathan and Liz with their dog Kenda stopped to visit tonight.

John made a yummy dinner of spiced shrimp, quinoa risotto, and broccoli. I am using these Joshua tree seeds on my basket. I look down and see an ant walking away with one! And a cockroach running away from my flashlight.

We drove back to the Spring Mountains between Pahrump and Las Vegas for a hike and exploratory drive. John herding a desert tortoise off the road to save it's life.  96 in Shoshone, but 70's up here at 6,000 feet. We hiked on the Lovell summit trail. It was in the pinyon-juniper climate zone.

Lorraine, Judy and Susan up ahead with Mtn peaks. Range ratany, buck brush and manzanita.

Cryptantha, bastard toadfax flower, and field of toadfax. A photo of us social distancing. Susan being silly with her tongue out, Lorraine, Judy and John.

Red trail, spring green oaks ,blue sky and pinyon pine trees.  Antelope bush, weird plant,  bush with hanging seeds, sumac.

Couple of men on horses passed us on the way back. Lorraine in the spring green gambel's oak.
Sunset tonight.
