Feb 3, 2012 RV rally, Brooksville, Florida

We are at the South East Area Family motor coach rally. 1020 RV’s here. Lots of RV related classes, vendors  and entertainment. Lots to learn about living in an RV, it is nothing like a stationary house. Even the appliances are different.  Plus we get to meet lots of fun RV people. The rally is at the Hernando county airport and we are parked on unused runways.

This is sunset on the bus at the rally.  We are the middle bus. The second photo is sunset on another bus just down from us. It is the exact same kind as ours. We have not run into one before.

Here is John cooking dinner outside-river trip style. We can cook in the bus. It was 80n degrees today, and hot inside though. Since we have no hookups we have to run the generator to use the convection oven, or the microwave. Or the air conditioner –but we don’t use it much. Our stove is propane, so it is not problem. The rest of the bus runs on the batteries or propane and we have to run the generator an hour or two a day to recharge them. We have solar too, but it is not enough to run the whole bus, but every little bit helps. The second shot is sunset over the bus.

And sunrise. I don’t usually get up early enough to see them. But we are on eastern time here and the sun comes up after 7am, and I got up for some classes. The next set of photos are of the new coaches for sale here at the show. Our bus is very fancy for us, but it is down right plain compared to the new ones. They are way to fancy for me, way over the top. And they have a lot of features that we don’t need. We like to have a bus I can change the bike tire on the couch, or we can drag in all wet after a river trip. Not in these.  The first photo is inside a Prevost-they look like gray house busses on the outside. They are the most expensive coaches you can buy. There is a mirror on  the ceiling in this one.  Marble floors and counters. White leather upholstery.

Here is a bedroom.  The second photo is a bathroom in  a smaller coach, the hose is the shower hookup, it uses the bathroom as the shower stall. Not as much room on the little ones.

This is a big coach, it has two bathrooms and the master one has two sinks in it.  The second one is the living room of a big coach. It has two slides for the living room , which means it expands on each side once parked, so it has more room. Notice the fire place under the TV. Most of the new big ones have 4 TV’s, 2 in the living room, one on each end. One in the bedroom, and one outside-I guess so you can annoy your neighbors in the campgrounds, or not have to look at the beautiful scenery around you.  Mood lighting on the ceiling.  I mentioned to another woman that I thought these were a little too fancy for me and she said in awe, “oh, it is so beautiful’. I guess not everyone shares my taste!

This one I liked the sectional sofa and the extra counter extension in the kitchen, but still to fancy.  The next set of photos is the parade at the rally. It was supposed to be only people on foot, golf carts(which everyone else seems to have with them) or bicycles. It is pretty funny. Kind of a what old people do to have fun! Gives me faith, that I don’t have to act old!

rally parade, a kazoo band-these people were actually a good blue grass band that was part of the entertainment.

Most of the entries were chapters, groups of people who travel together, so they had themes for their group. The second photos, they were the birds. Perhaps there was an inside joke that went with it,that I didn’t get?

They all threw candy and beads to the bystanders. It was lots of fun. The second photo was the beach party float

The theme of the rally was Hollywood-I am hoping that is why these people are in these crazy costumes.

This guy was from the golf cart sale lot.  (the darn things cost between $3 and 4 thousand dollars) This is me and my girlfriend. And a sunset

John took this photo of sunrise. I missed it this am. But there are RV’s as far as the eye can see.  These rally’s turn into small cities for a week. Here is a hay bale guy who greeted us all coming into the rally.
