November 11-14, 2017 Chickahominy River Park, Virginia To Jarvisburg, North Carolina

Cloudy again today, but a bit warmer in the low 50's. We went back to Jamestown historic area.

We went to the museum in the visitors center. Here is a map of  what they thought the world looked like in 1607 with models of the three ships the settlers came over on in the lower left. Then we went to Yorktown where England surrendered to the US after the revolution in 1781.  Historic downtown Yorktown. And the monument at the site of the surrender.

We went into Williamsburg and stocked back up. It rained all night and some this am. Then was cloudy, in the 50's and a bit breezy. Good day to shop.

I walked around the park when we got back. Fall colors and cypress knees. Too bad the weather was so cold, rainy and cloudy, it looks like there is a nice 7 mile canoe path in the marsh. Would have been fun.

At the last gasp the sun came out for sunset. Here are some fall trees illuminated over the marsh. The site we are at is where Chief Wowinchapunke lived. His tribe harassed the english. They put him in jail, but he escaped. They then burned is town and killed his wife and children, he continued to harass and finally was killed by the English. All they wanted to do was keep their land. . . There are nutria here, they are large rodents that were introduced, moss on the north side of the pine, two photos of cypress knees.

The sun came out at the last minute and we got a nice sunset.

Fall colors in the campground and sunset over the Chickahominy river.

Cypress and knees in last light.  The next day we drove into North Carolina. On the way we went through this tunnel under the river. I hate being in tunnels underwater. I hate being underwater. . .

We are at another Harvest Host site B J's Carolina Grill.  This one is a restaurant on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We had dinner there and I had the prime rib taco. I though mac and cheese was the side. In the south mac and cheese is considered a vegetable. But no it was supposed to be in the taco! Must be some kind of southern/mexican fusion. I had it on the side.  Currituck county is a Sportsman's Paradise. Next door is the Sanctuary Winery, so we stopped for a taste. They have these lovely camellias blooming out front.

There was also a brewery just down the street. The Weeping Radish Brewery. Joh in frowning because his beer is empty. I forgot to get a photo before he drank it. After that we drove to the ocean. The atlantic ocean at Kitty Hawk- where the Wright Brothers had their first flight.

There was another beautiful sunset.
