Driving into Edisto Beach State Park, South Carolina. Oak trees with spanish moss and palmettos. The bus in our campsite.
A jetty on the beach at the park and the beach at the park. It is 32 degrees and 14 mph wind. Not beach weather.
Ice on a fence on the way here. 19 degrees last night. Boo. Welcome to the South Carolina Low country. They call most of the coast in SC the low country. The campground is at 3 feet elevation. Salt marsh in the park.
Oak trees with spanish moss and palmettos over the salt marsh at Edisto Beach State Park, South Carolina. And sunset.
Proof that everywhere we go it snows! Weds we had an ice storm. They closed the bridge to the main land, locked the gate to the beach. The power kept going on and off. I have never seen one before. 1/4 of ice on everything. John's chacos are frozen to the ground, I picked up our frozen guard snake and snakeskin like ice fell off. The car and our boats are coated.
The bike, grill, picnic table and our awnings. A frozen leaf from the frozen live oaks, and a frozen palmetto frond.
Then it began to snow! John on one of the boardwalks over the salt marsh. Frozen salt marsh with a gray heron gliding over.
Frozen oak branch over frozen salt marsh. The road to our campsite in the distance.
The bus with frozen drooping palms. Good thing I left the ice scraper in the car, never thought I would need it on the beach in the South.
We drove the 1 mile to the beach. There was no one out driving, all the businesses were closed and the roads were slick. The beach had snow, ice and salt water slush on it. John walking on the beach. It was 28 degrees with wind. Brrr.
Frozen grasses and John practicing for when he is too old to walk on the beach in the beach wheel chair.
Slush on the beach, frozen ice coated spanish moss, wave on the beach and an ice covered oak branch. Trees were bent over the road with the ice and snow.
Frozen palm, iced branch, gray heron, icy pine needles and more frozen palm leaves.
Snow, slush and sand on the beach, ice and snow on our kayaks in front of a frozen palm tree, frozen rear view on the bus and John's chacos frozen and covered in snow.
