September 13, 2018 West Yellowstone, Montana

We left Cody and headed back through Yellowstone to West Yellowstone in Montana. We got a call on the way. Some kind of water hose that goes to the toilet sprung a leak and flooded our apartment over the garage in Fort Collins.  So far our property manager and insurance company are handling it. Don't know how much damage there is. So not planning on going back.

Wyoming is Beef Country, Enjoy both, Wyoming cattle women sign. We drove on the Wyoming Buffalo Bill Cody scenic byway, and passed this Bob's Big Boy statue out in the middle of a hay field. The rodeo grounds proclaim Cody Wyoming rodeo capital of the world. In Wapiti we passed Lee Smith's house. He spent 20 years building it and living in the bottom story until he fell to his death from the top. His daughter who inherited it was going to finish it and open it to the public but did not have the funds and the house is falling into disrepair so it is on the market now for over a million dollars.

Also near Wapiti is this rock formation. In the middle top is the old woman in front of her house. We are  in Trump country. The sign was on the way to Yellowstone and we passed this motor home with flags, signs, buttons, a life sized photo of Trump and every campaign sign, sticker etc. I wonder if he knows the election already happened? A boiling mud pot in Yellowstone.

Two scenic rivers-Pelican Creek and the Yellowstone River-taken through the RV window with all the smashed bugs and an the tinted windows. A view of one of the boiling mud pots at the Mud Volcano area in Yellowstone, with the Dragons mouth spring steaming in the background.

The  mud volcano, another large boiling mud pot and the Dragons mouth Spring. Until 1994 the Dragons Mouth the dramatic wave like action often splashed water as far as the boardwalk. The rumbling sounds are caused by steam and other gases exploding through the water causing it to crash against the walls of hidden underground caverns. It does not splash that far anymore, but it still steams, rumbles and crashes. Notice Grizzly bears frequent this area- sign in our campground, The boundary of the park is just up the river from us, white markers by the highway represent highway fatalities. We again entered and left Yellowstone today. Will go back tomorrow in the car and sight see, The Dude Motel is in West Yellowstone.

John with dinner in our campsite at Baker's Hole campground, just north of West Yellowstone, Montana and right at the border of Yellowstone.  We got the last campsite available today. It was a short site and it  took about 45 minutes of maneuvering to get the bus into it. Tomorrow we are going to try to score one of the electric sites when someone leaves. Hope we can get out faster than we got in. Sunset over the Madison river that leaves then reenters Yellowstone.

Sunset over the Madison river that leaves then reenters Yellowstone.  It is called Baker's hole after the fishing hole on the river by camp. Sunset above the trees to the west.
