We are camped on the Colorado River. It is lovely. On weekends it gets crowded and has lots of boat/jet ski traffic. Day people come down to the campgrounds and party during the day on the weekend. Loud music. During the week is it quiet. This year is is not very crowded so far. We took a drive to Lower Grapevine Canyon. Lots of brittle bush blooming.
Brittle bush. Brittle bush and phacelia.
Indio bush and poppies. I love the color of the bush so much I took multiple photos. Lake Mohave. It is above Davis Dam, we are camped right below the dam. The color is this beautiful blue.
BLM free dispersed camping at Telephone Cove on Lake Mohave. Probably really crowded on the weekends. Back lit bushes.
Desert stars, phacelia, white lined sphinx moth caterpillar. They get on a plant and eat it to the ground. They are in the same family as tomato worms which is why I don't like the moths, because I really don't like the worms. This one is not as bad as the tomato ones, it is much more colorful. John with cholla.
We hiked up the road in Lower Grapevine canyon.
Lower Grapevine Canyon looking toward Lake Mohave. The current masterpiece in progress. I make this even peyote stitch piece as a practice for the class I took. It will go in this basket.
Last light on the east side of the campground. Desert nettle, Laughlin across the river is in Nevada, we are in Bullhead City across from Laughlin in Arizona. tiny yellow flowers. I did a double take, I saw a wood duck. They do not live in this area. They are also really shy, it is hard to get close enough to get a decent photo. This one was hanging out with these two mallards and coming close enough to beg for food.
The motley duck family again tonight. And sunset.
The basket is coming along. The beads did not seem to match well on the basket, but then I wove a few more for around the center and I like it better. Sunset tonight
John enjoying the warm evening watching sunset.
