There were vultures circling by the moon tonight. They sometimes roost in trees in Shoshone this time of year. It has been windy and rain is predicted soon, so the clouds mostly blocked sunset. But got a bit of a glow.
I spent the afternoon making masks for us.
I am smiling! We went to Tecopa to dump our RV tanks. We are getting a lot of rain and John wanted to get it done before the roads flooded. These three hot springs are closed due to social distancing and the virus.
We walked down to the river to see if it is high enough to boat yet. It is not. But what a beautiful afternoon after lots of rain we got some sun in the afternoon. John taking a photo of the road. He was laid out flat, I caught him getting up.
Desert inky cap mushroom or false shaggy mane. They are 6-8 inches high. Weird to see a mushroom in the desert. It likes packed hard dirt. It can even push up through asphalt. It is edible, but it has a chemical in it that is similar to antabuse. If you drink any alcohol with it it will cause nausea and vomiting. There is water in the Amargosa river here. Being a desert river much of the time is runs underground except after rains. It does not have enough water yet to run under the road, when it floods it runs over the road.
I finished the cute little blue basket. It is made of natural ponderosa pine needles, flat waxed polyester thread and the center is a piece of dichroic glass that I fused. It is 6 x 6 1/2 x 2 inches. As pretty as the stitch inside is I like the back of it better. This is the beginning of the next masterpiece. The center is a tile I fused. I was playing with making sun rays in the mist between the trees. My trees look like cactus. The needles are dyed green. It is 6 x 6 inches so far.
The rain storm rolling in while I was biking. I turned around about the time it started. I got home wet. Willy and Lilly visit us every evening for treats.
Who can resist them! Judy treating the dogs.
Judy came out to feed the dogs wearing a mask she was making. Still has all the pins in it. I added beads around the center of the masterpiece.
Imaging my surprise when I took out a cube of butter and it was half size. The pound of butter has 8 of these in it. Still making masks.
