The bus is repaired. We took the car down for new brake pads, but the shop said that the old ones were still ok. Nice to hear, really nice they were that honest. We spent the rest of the day , shopping and seeing Roanoke. Camped at Roanoke Mountain in the evening.

the Roanoke Star. It is the worlds largest man made star. Erected in 1949 as a symbol of the progressive spirit of Roanoke, star city of the south. The star itself is 88.5 feet tall, it is lit up at night and can be seen from 60 miles away. It is 1,045 above the city at 1,847 above sea level. the city of Roanoke seen from the star.
