It started out sunny, but when we got out it was cloudy and a little rainy again.
We went to Bass bay looking for fresh lobsters. Here is the marina with an old lighthouse. We found Thurman's Lobster pound- it was recommended by the guys on the lobster boats. The colored things hanging on the buildings are buoys used to mark the lobster traps-the yellow and green wire cages-when they are under water.
One of 5 baskets of different size lobsters at Thurman’s-these are the small ones. they just grabbed the live lobsters out of the baskets when you ordered them and dropped them in this huge boiling pot in the back. John with a lobster roll, much less work than fighting with a whole lobster. Besides the sun came out just for a moment when he got the roll, he decided it was a divine sign that he have it.
Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, the cliffs by the light house. Where the sun started to come out.
Just down fro m the light house, On the Ship Harbor trail the sun did come out.
John at our lunch stop. Of course the lobster roll was only a morning snack. The trail by the shore.
This is a panorama of the rocks at the head of Ship Harbor.
The waves were huge. The second photo waves from two different directions came together.
The colors were beautiful. Then we went to the Wonderland trail. Here are tide pools at Wonderland. Wonderland was wonderful. Sorry I couldn’t help it.
Tide pool, and John looking into more tide pools at Wonderland.
A beach rose, it has huge rose hips, the size of crabapples, shells between the rocks. They are mostly broken up shells, those waves are fierce and some snail shells, the pink granite with quartz in it and an oak leaf. On the way home there was this cool rainbow to end the day with.
