My brother-in-laws 80th birthday party is this weekend in Philadelphia. Originally we were not planning to go, since we planned on being much farther south. Then we wanted to finish seeing New England. But being a female, I changed my mind and wanted to go and see my family. John was not delighted with the abrupt change in plans or the long drive, but being the sweet heart that he his we took off. Thursday we left Massachusetts after a slight delay of having a burnt out bulb in the blinker. Drove 275 miles. We were going to stop somewhere in Connecticut, but there were no campgrounds in the western half of the state on our route, so we just kept driving- right through New York City (I was petrified- John was fine). Seems that when the Yankees are in the playoffs is a good time to drive the city.
Cranberry harvesting in Massachusetts, John at the low point of Rhode Island, which is the Atlantic Ocean.
The Fungwah tour bus. Traffic into and out of New York City at sunset, and look, construction delays.
The delay. We could not find a campground once we reached New Jersey, and it was 9 at night, so we camped in the WalMart parking lot. It was not bad. John took this photo this am.
We are now camped in the Timberlane Campground in Clarksboro, NJ. It is the closest campground to Philadelphia still open this late in the season. Sunset on the pond at Timberlane.
Ducks on the pond at sunset. I cooked homemade beef and bean burritos, with homemade green chili sauce, topped with cheese, cilantro, tomatoes and lettuce. Yum.
I worked on the basket during the long drove. It is now 6 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall. It is getting there. This is a photo of Cooper Hospital, where I went to Med Tech school in Camden, NJ in 1974-75. We are camped very near to it. It is a totally new building and it has a huge turnpike next to it, that we are driving on.
