Today we ran the biggest, most challenging rapid in Florida-Big Shoal. Perfect day for it, 72 degrees, sunny.
River level recommendations. Way down upon the Suwanee river.
Sue approaching the rapid, John powering through it. The Suwanee river comes from the Okefenokee swamp, and has the same dark brown to black looking water from the tannin from plants decomposing and the peat.
Sue braving the treacherous drop, John in the midst of Big Shoals.
Roots on the river bank. The water is usually higher than this, and most of the roots are under water. There are pretty high banks on the river too. Limestone cliffs.
Clear spring water joining the river. The clear water over the white sand merging with the black water with sky reflections. We had lunch here.
John at the lunch spot. More Cypress roots.
John rounding the corner by cypress trees, and cypress reflected.
Oak trees and palmettos on the river bank.
reflections on the water.
John way down upon the Suwanee river, and suep reflected.
