More beautiful weather on the island. low 70’s during the day and low 60’s at night. Humid, but it is not so bad when it is cooler, except when it gets into the 60’s it is clammy and cold.
This display is in the campground. It is all the shells you can find here and what they are. This motorhome is here in the campground. 4 wheel drive. Would be really handy. We think it may be German.
The white sand still looks like snow. I climbed this behind the campground and the ocean was on the other side. Some pines and palmettos. I love this habitat.
The basket has the last of the beads and shells sewed on and it is shellacked, just drying now.
We hiked 6 miles round trip out to a point on the island. We saw these sand mounds. I think it is low tide. John dug down to see what animal caused these and did not find anything. They are about 6 inches tall. The tops of them are like cake decorating something.
More mounds. There is not dirt in Florida, it is all sand, the plants just grow into it. Not sure how the trees say up. Guess it is these big roots.
Roots like this. There are oysters growing on some of these logs. John standing on the white sand. The picture shows his foot prints, the only ones on the beach.
Lots of purple flowers out. I wonder if it is spring down here? Tiny ants made this ant hill around this plant. More cool white sand
