A cold front came through today. 20-40 mph winds , rain and cold. In the 50’s. I got up to look at the ocean at about sunrise. There was no sunrise, I got pelted with rain and wind. The waves were big, I was wet and cold. We went back east on the forgotten coast the way we came because John wanted to photograph the worlds biggest baseball. It cleared up, but was still very windy, cold and only in the 50’s.
Sue dressed for a morning stroll on the beach. Along the highway- bear crossing on the beach in Florida. They do have black bears here.
John standing in the highway photographing the worlds largest baseball. John on the 70 foot wooden pirate ship-the Carrabelle.
Crooked river light house. It has a ladder up it inside. Diamond back terrapins at the Apalachicola estuarine research reserve. They had a bunch of cool exhibits about the flora and fauna in the Apalachicola watershed.
A conch at the estuarine research reserve. They have a tongue sticking out the front and they insert it into oysters and lick them out. St George island lighthouse. Of course this is a replica of the original that was on the island next door to St George island that got destroyed in a hurricane.
The restored historic St George Inn. I went back to the beach for sunset. These were sandcastles a day or two ago, they are wind worked now.
The wind is whipping spray off the big waves and working the white sand.
Blowing sand and blowing waves. I was getting sand blasted and wind chilled.
Sunset on the waves and the oat grass
At this point my hands were so cold I could not work the camera so I came back and warmed up. This is Florida-it is supposed to be warm!! It will be in the 40’s tonight. Good thing I have a warm husband to snuggle.
