Cold front moving in. It was foggy and dripping when we woke up, sunny in the am and then foggy with a little wind in the pm. High of 72, 80% chance of rain tonight.
Some smaller frogs moved into the utility box. We hiked on the East Slough trail. I thought it was only one mile each way. It was 2 miles each way. Very pretty.
John heading onto one of the boardwalks. We took the beach route back. John on the beach using his new tripod. Fog down the beach. We were the only people on the beach. The park is 9 miles long. 9 miles of undeveloped beach on both sides. Very nice.
The sun made one attempt to come back out. This great blue heron is windblown.
Beach rosemary with yellow berries, this prickly pear cactus grows low to the ground in a mat, looks like a vine. The pads are only about2-3 inches long. The bristles are long , barbed and wicked. I barely touched one and it stuck to my hand. The day before I was walking and I think my flipflop threw one up on the back of my leg, I thought I was being attacked by a huge bug, brushed it off with my hand, had bristles in my hand and behind my knee. Hurt. Yaupon holly berries, I think some kind of plover and a willet on the beach, purple flowers, the wicked bristles on the cactus, more yaupon holly berries, the plover.
The slash pine trees are shaped into almost bonsai looking trees from the wind.
