Maps of the Clearwater River canoe trail. The canoe trail follows a slow-moving, meandering stretch of the Clearwater River into Seeley Lake. 3.5 mile distance, with a slight current. It says to you can hike from the take out to the put in on a one mile hiking trail. Once we had everything in place, it ends up that the trail is 1.5 miles. John took the car to the take out and hiked back the 1.5 mile.
I waited at the put in and guarded our gear. The river was lovely.
The plants in the river stretched downstream and waved in the current like hair. John on the river with the Swam mountain range in the background. The river had a couple dead end forks, we got lost on one. We saw wildlife back there, ducks, fish, turtles, birds.
White water lilies started appearing nearer to Seeley lake. John entering the lake.
The lake had water lilies as far as the eye could see on the north end. John said the trail was really nice, so I hiked back to the put in and John drove the boats. There were old growth trees on the trail.
Wild flowers in the grass. On the road back there was a tow truck picking up a wreck trailer. A good reminder that there is not much structure to these things.
Wildflowers and such seen on the trip. Asters, yarrow, painted turtle, daisy, millifore flower and ducks.
After dinner I read by the lake, the lake was mirror calm again and the light was beautiful.
