It was too windy to kayak Topock Gorge like we had planned to do. Of course we did not find out until we had gotten up early and went to the kayak shop for the shuttle. No one was there, John was going to call the guy and then found out he had left a message the night before telling us that all trips were canceled because of the wind. 30 + mph with gusts in the 40 mph range. We had to find other entertainment.
Here are the big waves and white caps from the wind. Lake Havasu City is in the background. It is pretty big. This is part of the London bridge area.
Photos from the museum. The London bridge was taken apart, parts numbered, shipped to Lake Havasu and then rebuilt. After they built it they dredged out Bridge water canal separating the point from the mainland. Looks a lot different than it does today.
We took the ferry across the lake to California and the casino on the Indian Reservation. Lake Havasu City has replicas of light house all along their shoreline. This is the one by the RV park at the end of the channel on the way across the lake. The casino is Lake Havasu Casino on the Chemehuevi Indian reservation. The lake was very choppy, but a beautiful day. We went into the casino and left having broken even. I didn’t spend a cent and made about what I usually have when I have left!
This first light house is on the California side by the casino. The second one is also on the channel back into Lake Havasu City. There were two wind surfers or whatever you call them on the waves, they were really fun to watch.
It is spring break here. We went down on the channel to check out the action. John was very disappointed that thongs are no longer in style. I guess I must have partied this hard at a younger age, but not in such a big crowd. It was hopping, lots of booze, loud music, boats and bikinis. They all looked so young. Some kid even high fived us as we walked through the crowd, wow, old people partying, right on!!
John enjoying paradise on the Bridgewater Channel. Here is the party later from across the channel. We ended the afternoon by having dinner at the local brewery and John got to taste their IPA.
Sun setting behind the palms on the road back to the RV park.
