I spent the day cooking for my sister and husbands arrival. They drove from Palo Alto and arrived at around 6 pm.
A huge policeman race called the Baker to Las Vegas race starts tomorrow. 250 teams of 20 from all over the world will run a relay day and night until they reach Las Vegas, about 200 miles from Baker. Each team has 30 support people and their families. They are set up and camped all along the route. They will come through Shoshone tomorrow. There is a large gathering of RVs at the turning point here already. Judy will be working as part of the medical team at the helicopter pad during the race. We will be spectators. John setting the table for dinner. I was helping him carry it, but apparently is was easier for him to do it alone. He is so big and strong.
Sunset tonight. Laurie, Judy and John sitting around the table after dinner. Spaghetti and green beans.
John and I hiked before they arrived. We saw a beaver tail cactus bloom, a desert tortoise-this one lives in a pen in Shoshone, a white flower and yellow wooly daisies- tiny little flowers that carpet the ground in areas.
