Eureka Ca 10/23

Today we drove down to Eureka to do things like the bank, Costco, etc. It is so remote in Southern Oregon and Northern California that I have been looking for weeks for a Wells Fargo bank. Our first stop was Costco, Sat am. We are out of the habit of cities and this many people. Eureka has a nice old town.  These are two of the Victorians we saw.
The Pink Lady and the Carson mansion were both built in the 1800's for lumber baron William Carson.

We found a fun house mirror outside a clothing store. Like looking at myself would make me want to buy new clothes. NOT.

Or perhaps that is what we will look like if we continue to live on the bus.

Eureka was too busy for us so we grocery shopped in Mckinleyville at Safeway and found the worlds tallest totem pole carved out of a single log. It is 160 feet tall, I guess that age of the tree when it was cut down was 500 years.

It is now pouring rain and windy. We can still hear the waves on the ocean. I have not spent enough time around the ocean to see what a storm does to it. John says nothing, but I wonder if the waves are bigger, will have to check tomorrow. All this rain will be a snowstorm  for our friends in Colorado soon.
