Morro Bay, Bakersfield and Barstow Dec 8,2010

We took a walk on the beach in Morro Bay before we left. Warm, sunny, beautiful. We saw these people riding horses.
Apparently no one can read the sign.

This area must have lots of oil, it was packed with wells.

We parked in Bakersfield at an RV park in an orange orchard. We could have as many oranges as we wanted. I took 4 bags, I love fresh squeezed OJ.

The tehatchapi-Mohave wind farm. Has 4500 wind turbines and makes 2.4 billion kilowatt hours of power a year.

We we to Boron and visited the borax mine. It is California's biggest open pit mine. It has mammoth machinery operating. Really cool.

the tires for the BIG equipment at the mine. To the left are the speed limit signs in the compound. It is to make people pay attention to driving slower and safer.

Turbines at the borax mine. A huge crystal of borax found in the mine. It is about 2 feet in diameter.

I got in this tire for a photo and OMG it took off!
