It finally warmed up some and was sort of sunny, so we took Zoe and hiked up Red Hill above Carbondale.
John and Zoe hiking up. Mt Sopris almost looks like a volcano with the clouds spewing out.
A big thunder storm was rolling in. I wonder why they call it Red hill??
Carbondale down below Mt. Sopris. We started back down when the thunder cracked right above us. The putting on of the rain coats usually makes it quit raining, it didn’t work today. It rained hard, thundered and hailed.
Rain on the pinyon pines. The water running down the trail. When I worked trail crews I always remember the leader Stan Ward telling us- Water is the #1 enemy to trails.
Yup, still mud season in the mountains. John was cutting up onions and crying, Martha lending moral support.
The masterpiece is coming alone. We went walking before dinner and caught the sunset on Mt. Sopris.
Closer up of the sun on the new snow on Sopris. The many faces of Zoe.
Wild flowers are blooming in the mountains. And hail on the ground.
