The coach parked at Bar View county campground. John is disappointed that there really is no bar in view. The sites are kind of small, but the people are very friendly and it is right on the beach. Here is a small cove by the campground.
The campground is on Tillamook Bay’s north jetty. I spent months wanting to lay on a beach, here I am today. Wonderful.
I went over to ask the neighbors to turn down their music tonight and they gave me some of the the Dungeness crab they caught today. We had it for dinner. Yummy. Here is sunset on the beach.
Today we rode on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. It has a steam engine and goes from Garibaldi to Rockway along the coast.
John walking down the aisle of the train with an ice cream cone. A view from the train.
After the train we walked out Pier’s end. It is 700 feet long and the longest pier in Oregon. We watched people fishing and catching crabs, like this dungeness.
Views of Tillamook bay and Garibaldi from Pier’s end.
Garibaldi is an authentic fishing village. It is famous for having some of the finest deep sea and fresh water fishing, clamming and crabbing on the Oregon Coast. They also have crab races in the spring. Here is a cool log cabin tent in the campground.
I wanted to try kayaking on Tillamook bay. But as soon as I got out of this small lagoon by the campground the waves were huge and I gave up and came back. Beautiful bay.
The Three Graces. You can see them from the train and I wanted to kayak too them before I chickened out. This man was fishing on Rockaway beach near sunset.
Also saw this wedding taking place at sunset on the beach. Lovely setting. A few of the bug things I saw today on the beach.
