Ila and I packed up and headed to Death Valley for the Art Show. We drove down
Fri and set up our booth. We met with our friend Jeff from Fort Collins. He was
camped in the campground. Here he is the bathing beauty at the spring fed pool
at Furnace Creek Ranch.
Sunset colors from the ranch. Jeff treated us to dinner at the ranch. Pizza and
drinks.
Here is our booth. The show was Sat and Sun all day. It was almost 100 degrees
each day. Ila makes beaded jewelry, I have my baskets and glass jewels. My
sister Judy has some wood work. She usually comes, but did not this year so we
took her wares. The show is just off the main road by the entrance to the ranch
so we had lots of people come through. We did ok, but it was a lot of work for
what we earned. It was fun to talk to the people and the other artists. I only
sold three small baskets. But a bit of jewelry.
Sunset over Death Valley. My sister treated us to dinner at Furnace Creek Inn.
Here is Ila in the dining room. It was full by the time we got our dinner.
More sunset from the Inn. Ila and I at our table before dinner.
It was sunny, blue skies and close to 100 degrees both days. On the way home
we went by Death Valley Junction and saw this marker in celebration of Marta
Becket. She was a famous desert ballerina. She just recently passed away.
Saturday during the show I made this basket out of an abalone shell. It came out
real cute. I didn’t get much time to admire it, it sold on Sunday. Back in
Shoshone this is the new boardwalk at the new habitat for the endangered
Amargosa voles.
The trimmed palms look like a 60’s haircut. The refugium for the endangered
Amargosa pupfish is adjacent to the vole habitat. and the new boardwalk goes
into the pupfish habitat. It is a very nice nature walk, you don’t see much
water in the desert and where it is is lovely.
Some desert gold are blooming in Shoshone.
