January 18-22, 2019 Shoshone, California

Warm and sunny, the rain has ended and the clouds are pulling out.

Bye bye rain clouds. Tecopa in the sunshine.

Resting Springs Mountains lit under a raincloud. Today we went to the opening of Skandar's work at the gallery at Tecopa Hot Springs. Not the best photo but John, Claudia taking a photo of Mary and Skandar, Judy Dillman and Lorraine. The artwork was beautiful and it was fun to see so many friends.

An almost full moon bearing date palm tonight. These two guys drive around in their car every evening. Very chatty, what to know all we are up to.I said smile and they complied.

Sunset over one of the last puddles from the rains of the last few days. Went to a writers workshop today by the pupfish pond under the palm tree. Lots of fun.

We saw a dragonfly emerge from it's nymph stage while we were there. I had to go home and look up the life cycle. The nymph lives underwater, when it is ready to shed it's skin it climbs out of the water and attaches to a reed or something and then the skin on the back splits and the dragonfly emerges. Like a butterfly from a cocoon. Was pretty cool. The second part of the photo is the nymph skin shell left afterwards. A panorama of sunset tonight.

Finished this winner. Blue Pyramid. It has a piece of glass I made in the center. 10 x10 x6. Very pleased with it. I then started this basket with a piece of glass my friend Laurie made in the middle.

I hiked around in these white salt/clay hills this afternoon. Love the shapes here. Backlit seed heads.

Sunset was again phenomenal. John building a rolling display case for the museum in town. He is happy to donate time and work here.

The masterpiece is progressing. We heard a big boom tonight and saw flames. An RV in the RV park just up the street caught on fire then the tanks blew. There were 4 fires going.

We could see flames. There were high winds. John took off to help. The sheriff came by and told us to get out. It was not here yet but if it turned it would go fast. I moved the car and had the RV running to move it when he came back and said it was partially contained and to just stay ready. I don't drive it, but would have. Scared me to death. Thankfully the local fire depts responded fast and stopped it. A miracle really, high winds and lots of dry fuel. No one was hurt as far as I have heard so far. This is a tiny town and could have all burned very easily.
