February 14-15, 2020 Death Valley Junction, California

We met the B2B hikers at Death Valley Junction at the Amargosa Hotel. This is the same place that we went to opera on Saturday night, but this time we all spent the night. They have been backpacking and camping for 3 nights. Sunset across the street from the Amargosa Hotel. You can see snow on Mt Charleston in the background.

Sunset across the street from the Amargosa Hotel. This complex was built by the Borax company. I am not sure if there was a borax mill here or it was just the railroad stop where they loaded it up. John announcing dinner waving the butcher knife. There is no where to eat here,so we bring dinner. John made black bean and sweet potato soup, with homemade bread and salad. We had valentines brownies for dessert. The window and the arch are murals. The murals have such good depth of field they look real.

Judy D, Judy P and John having dinner. More murals around the windows.

Wilson is one of the hotel cats. He is a real lover. He visited Judy in her room earlier and she brought him by to visit me. When we were children we had a cat that looked like this and we were always fighting about who got to have the cat sleep in their room at night. Tonight we shared. Judy D and Judy P leaving in the am. They will hike and camp two more days to Shoshone.

Murals in the dining room. There is only one real arch there. The murals are so realistic it is hard to tell what is real or painted on the wall. In this photo only the chilies, wrap and hat are painted on the wall.

Sunset last night.John hiking the white trail this afternoon.

Dublin Gulch miner's homes. When there were mines here the miners used their mining tools and dug out caves to live in. They were cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. We had dinner at Steak and Beer in Tecopa, the best restraint in Tecopa and the best steaks in the world. This is the outside seating. Former Las Vegas Chef Eric got tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and opened this incredible restaurant here.

We sat inside. Judy P, Susan, Judy D, John, Lorraine and Suep. Dinner was wonderful. Sunset tonight over Tecopa.
