March 8, 2023 Shoshone, California

 65, cloudy and windy.

Judy P took us on a hike to a lovely canyon she found off Amargosa canyon. We started with crossing Willow Creek. It was a group effort. Heading into Amargosa Canyon.

Side Canyon that Judy found.

Cool purple hoo doo.

The canyon had lots of big rocks, cool formations and bright colors. Hiking up where it narrowed.

Jill lured me up this steep part, seeing if we could get around a dry fall. Probably could have, but Judy thought it wasn't safe, so we came back down. Trailside hoo doo.

Then we went farther down Amargosa Canyon with colorful cliffs. Interesting salt deposits and colorful rocks.

Cryptantha, tiny plants, cholla cactus and interesting rocks from yesterdays hike.  Today's colorful rocks and brittle bush blooms. We stopped at China Ranch Date farm for yummy date shakes after our hike.

Sunset over Grimshaw wetlands with Tecopa peak in the background, after our stop  at the hot springs for a soak on the way home. Sunset from in front of the Crowbar in Shoshone where we went for dinner.
