73, sunny and very windy, 30 mph with gusts to 40.
John hiking on the Aqua trail. Sunset tonight.
We went to Andy Zdon's great talk at the museum about the springs in the area. Learned a lot. We drove from California to Beatty Nevada to drop the Judy's off for their 2 week 170 mile Beatty to Bad Water backpack, then back from Nevada, to Pahrump to restock and then back to California.
We stopped along the way to cache food and water for their trip.
The truck was covered in dust. John shut the back and got himself covered with dust. In Beatty we visited the Death Valley Nut and Candy Co. and stocked up on goodies.
We spent the night at the Atomic Inn in Beatty. Burros roam the streets in Beatty posing for photos and begging for food.
The newly remolded Exchange Club and Casino still is not open, would love to see the new steam punk inside. The Beatty Senior Center thrift shop was also no open. Guess that is ok, I didn't loose or spend any money. The bluffs to the north east of Beatty.
We had dinner at the VFW. It is supposed to be the best food in town. It was pretty crowded with a super bowl event. But it was pretty quiet in the no smoking area. The building was once a church and still has some of the decorated windows. Judy and Judy heading out in the am.
Back at home I glued some findings on the back of some earring I made last summer. These are cats, dogs and paw prints. 51 pairs of earrings. I am almost done, only one batch left to do. The cats, dogs and paw prints are now wired and hung on cards. It took 4-5 hours to glue, wire and card these. That does not include making the glass. These are a pain because the pieces are so little and the glass is slippery.
John has been hacking back this gargantuan mesquite bush at my sister's new house. It was bigger than the house, It originally grew up to and over the fence. Since it is on the city property, they are going to haul the branches away.
The contractor is making good progress on the new floor in her new house. I went for a nice hike with Toni this afternoon. Toni navigating the river crossing. It is very steep and slippery on both sides. Plus you get your feet wet crossing. John is going to build a bridge over the water.
John made good progress on the tree. This is his third day of working with the chain saw on it. The almost full Snow Moon rising in sunset behind a haze of clouds.
Sunset.
