We were up before dawn.
Sunrise was lovely behind the house. Judy, John and I hiking the bluff trail just as the morning light hit us.
John and Judy setting a GPS point on the bluff trail. Looking east at the Kingston Mountains. I am headed there this afternoon.
George Ross visiting and telling tall tales. Susan Sorrels took Steve ,Lee and I into the Kingston mountains this afternoon to see the Parry’s Nolinas. Here I am with a couple. They are huge! The blooms are almost as tall as I am, with the plant they are twice as tall as I am. They only bloom every 5 years or so, depending on how much moisture they get.
Parry’s Nolinas up the canyon. This is a small point of the Sonora desert. Barrel cactus, chollas and plants not usually found in this area.
Nolinas and the mountains around Shoshone. These mountains look just like the shot I took of the Kingston’s this am, where we are now. Photo of me at our picnic.
The sun popped out from under the clouds right at sunset. The mountains turned red. Susan’s Jeep in the Kingston mountains.
Susan brought us sandwiches, Steve and Lee brought wine and brownies. Wonderful picnic and good company, beautiful scenery. Steve and Lee.
Susan. The end of the sunset.
Spring has sprung here. Lots and lots of flowers on the bluff trail. Yellow monkey flower, a white flower, bitter bush flowers, California poppy, two photos of evening primrose, and two flowering bushes.
The first set of 4 are also from the bluff trail. Primroses, poppies, desert gold and a white flower. The second set of 4 are from the Kingston mountains, Indian paintbrush, white flowers, cholla blossom and a purple flowering bush.
Also in the Kingston’s a fuzzy prickly pear, fish hook cactus, another shot of the Indian paintbrush and a cholla bush.
