Plant City is the winter strawberry capital of the world. Chances are most strawberries you buy in the grocery stores in the winter come from Plant City.
Flats of strawberries. The Strawberry festival is a two week event here. It is mostly about 200 food vending booths, a midway with rides and carnival games and a bunch of misc vending booths. John between the food and the midway.
One of my favorite rides was the groovy bus. John in front of the Mardi Gras ride, which is supposed to be a children’s ride.
There was an Indian music and dance show that was interesting. Also an area about strawberries. There was an Ask a Farmer booth.
Informational signs about strawberries. Plant cities warm days and cool nights grow the sweetest strawberries and strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside, 200 of them. A strawberry field and a tractor with a row making attachment.
John getting strawberry ice cream. There is a strawberry pina colado/daiquiri next to him. Chocolate covered strawberries on a stick, strawberry stuffed donuts. A berry- go-round with giant strawberries and a strawberry welcome sign.
Our all around favorite was the pig racing. The pigs raced around a small track, and a couple of the races they had to swim though a trough of water to get to the track. The winners were rewarded with Oreo cookies. John as a strawberry pig.
