The High School in Shoshone has the Scorpion as their mascot. Here it is in front of the gym. Kids from as far away as Death Valley come here. I think this year there are 5 teachers and 23 students. We went to Mary King’s opening at the gallery at Tecopa Hot Springs resort, here is Mary with some of her work in the back.
Judy, John and Laurie as we are having dinner at the Bistro in Tecopa. Yummy as usual. John standing with the shelves he built in the Shoshone museum.
We all went and soaked at the Tecopa Hot Springs yesterday and today. To keep the water pure no clothes are allowed in the pools, so there are separate pools for men and women. Downtown Shoshone.
Sunset. Blooming cactus and open California poppies on our hike.
First light on the mountains on our morning hike.
In the afternoon we went to China Ranch. It is a date farm, or a valley full of palm trees in the middle of the dry desert. Our host at the ranch is Cynthia, here she is in her polaris. We stayed in Tee pees in the date orchard.
We cooked dinner in the outdoor kitchen. Ila showed up with this wild wolf shirt. I am glad she did not come after dark , she would have scared us to death. She has a wolf dog at home.
John serving up George Ross and Laurie is also behind the bar. Junior and Ila waiting for dinner.
Our silly boy bartender. Sunset on the surrounding hills.
Sunrise over the palm trees. We did not bring coats to Death Valley, so John wrapped up in one of the blankets.
Judy also in a blanket with Cynthia and John in his blanket inside having coffee. One of the teepees in the morning.
Jill, Judy and I posing with Mojave Mud, this photo is up with the display at the China Ranch Gift Shop. Cool rocks leaving China Ranch.
