Sunset from the remains of the historic garage. We had dinner at The Bistro in Tecopa. It is remodeled and under new management.
Ryan in the brand new kitchen at the Bistro. Sue, Judy, John and Laurie at dinner. The food was very good and the service great.
John volunteered to help gut the Shoshone Motel. They are remodeling and the work is taking longer than they theought it would, so he is helping. Once it is gutted the remodel can begin. Tuesday and Wednesday it rained. Here is rain on the lake in Shoshone.
Rain on the pupfish habitat. Drops of rain in a puddle.
But Wednesday it dawned clear, sunny and beautiful. Clouded up in the afternoon. I started out on a hike with just a fleece jacket. As I hiked I saw rain over Tecopa coming our way, then closer.
Storm clouds over the bullrushes at the spring. I got back just in time to dodge the rain. I was amazed to see a few wild flowers blooming here in Shoshone, it is much higher that Death Valley. It is much to early, they are confused. Desert gold, phacilia, poppy and a bird on a trail marker. I don’t know if the bird is early.
Mohave aster in the first two, tiny little white flowers, brittle bush in the first bottom two and a mustard. The Power Ball is up to 700 million. Nevada does not do Power Ball, so Shoshone is the closest place to Southern Nevada to buy tickets. When it is high there are really long lines and no where to park outside the general store.
The Motel is now gutted. John worked 4 days along with another local worker and they gutted as many rooms as the three contruction guys gutten in 3 weeks or more. He is beat. Sunset was exceptionally nice tonight. This is a date palm tree.
Sunset on the lake. the palms across the lake are fan palms, the only palm tree native to the area.
Another fan palm in the colors.
