30 mph winds and blowing dust mid 70’s today. We stayed inside most of the day. Reading, watching a movie, working on my basket while the bus rocked.
Blowing dust wiped out most of the views. Near sunset we ventured out. John trying not to blow away in his zebra fleece pants I gave him. Low 70’s are freezing to us now.
I wore a dust mask so I could breath. The wind caught my coat and I was off. You can see the wind in the bent tops of the palo verde.
The dust layer turning nice sunset colors. Looking into the sun the dust lit the sky up.
Saturday was not as windy, and definatly less dusty. We drove to the Desert Bar outside of Parker. It is down 5 miles of rough dirt road-in the middle of no where. As your approach you see this church. It is only open on weekends, daylight hours and Oct-April.
The church is in the parking lot of the bar, when you get beside it you see that is is just the front of a church. It is for weddings and photo ops and was paid for by donations.
It is built on the old site of the Nellie B mine. The slanted roofs are solar panals that run the place. There was live music, a couple of place to order food and the place was packed. John was unhappy because they only had Coors and Bud, no good beers. It is a really unique place.
After the Nellie B we went to the Blue Water Casino on the Colorado River in Parker. I got a club card which included a free lunch which we had and $10 of free slot play and I won $13.50 from their free $10. Not bad. This huge pool with water slide is right off the casino.
Their marina is on the Colorado River. They were supposed to have a huge boat race this weekend, but so far today it was canceled because of the wind. The casino is in the Colorado River Indian tribes land.
Another lovely sunset reflected in the bus window.
