April 20-22, 2018 Clear Spring Lake Campground, Mississippi

Another 70 degree and sunny day. We hiked another almost 4 mile hike.

Another gazebo over looking the lake. John on a bridge.

Green butterfly, wild looking grass hopper and a lily flower,  purple Venus looking glass, honey suckles, yellow sunflowers, white blooming vine,  and two photos of a Luna moth. It is on the back of huge green leaf and backlit. They are so pretty.

Our backyard for this week, over looking the lake.
It is now the weekend, the campground is full. We have families with young children on both sides. Not too many people with obnoxious bright light. I only saw one site with Xmas lights up.

Red-spotted purple butterfly, a root that looks like a snake and a couple cool looking leaves. It was in the70’s today and sunny so we hike around the campground and lake. This cool pool is under the outlet for the dam. Cool spot on a warm day.

John smoked some chicken breast for dinner. Yum yum.  It rained 3+ inches last night and this am, was partly cloudy this afternoon and clear right now and chilly looking. Everyone else left last night before the rain, we now have the campground to ourselves.

The final total on our unofficial rain gauge was  5 1/4  inches of rain.  Very heavy rain. A walking stick bug, the lake rose about 3 feet. In the top here there are some railroad ties that were around the lawn, they were about a foot above the lake, they are now two feet under water. A tulip tree bloom, Over head  canopy of big leaf magnolias, looks kind of tropical and a lineup of turtles on a log in the lake.

John walking on water on the dock in the swim area and on a bridge to the island with both ends flooded.

The small waterfall of water from the dam yesterday turned into this gusher today. One of the bridges on the trail around the lake.
