October 9-11, 2018 Cove Palisades, Oregon

It partly sunny today and low 60's with intermittent rain.

I woke up this morning and saw sun outside. I didn't even know where the sun rose in the sky it has been so cloudy. Really beautiful The deer were back lit and it appeared that they had a white halo around them.

Sunshine and beautiful fall trees.

It was sunny, but very windy and cold. So I stayed inside and mostly worked on my masterpiece. The pictures wash out the color on the center. It is very vibrant. The yellow beads are almost neon and they are washed out too. I am going to take the yellow beads off the center. They detract from it and hide the edges of the piece of glass. I transitioned to navy blue needles from the purple ones. They are so dark it is hard to tell. I  am starting green thread up the sides. Lots of clouds so this is all we got for sunset. I'll take it.

We are now camped at Tumalo State Park just north of Bend, Oregon. The bus is 36 feet long. We usually fit just fine in 35  foot camp sites, this site is 34, and it really is 34 feet. Tree at the back end, tree and branches to the right and on top. But it shoe horned in. The car is supposed to also be parked on the pavement. The rule is at least 2 tires on the pavement, that is how the car is. We have no hookups, the hookup sites were full, but we are self contained so will be fine. Cloudy and chilly- in the 50's.  This afternoon we went to the High Desert Museum which has a variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits exploring the culture, history, art and wildlife of the Columbia River Plateau and the Great Basin.  Lots of cool wildlife and exhibits. A nice bronze of two elk, a squirrel and a Tepee made with rush mats.

This one diorama had very lifelike man in the chair, wait that is John, he fell asleep waiting for me to go through the exhibits. What a patient man. A corn husk flat basket, a boat made out of rushes, Please don't feed the wild animals, they become reliant and will soon want cell phones, two otters in the otter exhibit, a horse sculpture made from barb wire and a close up of the barb wire.
After the museum we went to to the Immersion Brewery. John with his Get along little hoppies IPA. In the background are copper brewing tanks.

Woo hoo, it is sunny! Only in the 50's, but sun makes a big difference. We took a hike along the Deschutes River. The trail and the river run through the state park we are camped at.

Loving the fall colors on the Deschutes river. John on the trail way ahead of me.

We met friends for dinner at a local Vietnamese restaurant. Joyce, Kia, John, Sue and Mike. Great company, good to see them and yummy food. Our property manager discovered after we had been gone for a month and half that the toilet had sprung a leak and flooded our house. Seems most of the damage was to the flooring and drywall around the bathroom/living room and kitchen. Service master cleaned it up, insurance is covering it and the property managers will work with whoever to get it fixed. We needed new carpet in the living room anyway. This is a photo of the living room, it used to have carpet and the toilet and vanity were in the bathroom.
And the bathroom used to have flooring.
