December 12-13, 2019 Independence, California

59 and sunny.

The bus at the fairgrounds RV park in Ridgecrest,California. Downtown Ridgecrest and Petroglyph park in Ridgecrest. There are tons of petroglyphs in the area, but most are in China Lake Navel base, which is closed to the public. So the park has some of the petroglyphs reproduced so you can see them. Water in Owen's lake. Don't see that very often. LA secretly bought up water rights and ranches in the area, then put the water into a canal to LA. This area was lush, with orchards and after that water grab it is now desert.

Seen on the way here, the Orange house is for sale, Gateway to the Eastern Sierra,Lone Pine reservation, And Artists need to create on the same scale  that society has the capacity to destroy.
We were decorating at the Fruit cake festival today. They hate us for our fruitcakes, two posters for Fruitcakes in Valhalla and a beware of vikings sign.

Beautiful, downtown historic Lone Pine and Independence.

The bus at the RV park on the Fort Independence Reservation with our beautiful backyard. Most of the sites the electricity does not work at the utility pedestals. It worked fine in this site when we pulled in but when we returned tonight we had no power. We have to move to another site in the morning. The wind is blowing snow around the Sierra's.  Town is right at the foot of the high peaks.  Decorating at the Fruitcake festival. John making Xmas tree stands, Judy hanging one of 6 shields with torches below. They will look great in the dimmed lights of the festival.  I made the Fruitcake Man shrine. It is supposed to be tacky like the shrines you see by the highway.

Started out a beautiful day again.  High 50's and sunny. We got the motor home moved to another spot. Seems there are only about 4 sites with power posts that actually work, the host has one, and a couple other RV's that no one seems to be in. We are the only ones actually staying in our unit. Pretty quiet and dark.

Big storm blew in over the Sierras. The Fruitcake festival made the front page of the paper.

The decorating is coming along. Judy and I finished up the lights at the bar and rearranged the other decorations.

John was hanging dead animal bones and tried on this huge jaw bone.
John is working on his costume. He is going to wear the sassy braid- the packaging for the braid called it a sassy braid.
