We are working our way back to Colorado. It is still too cold to go back yet, it will even be cold here the next couple days. High in the low 60’s, lows in the 40’s and windy. 30% chance of rain tomorrow. Red Rock canyon is just west of Las Vegas.
We lucked out, the campground was almost full, the sites left were not even close to level or long enough for us. The host gave us a spot in the host area. Very nice.
The sun starting to set on the bus. Really fiery sunset tonight over the campground.
Closer up of the sunset. A evening primrose-different from the ones we have been seeing, and a note from the bulletin board-Partner wanted, have rack will travel!
Rainy and cold today. Peaks were shrouded in clouds. High of 53, supposed to go down to 35 tonight. Brrr. We drove up into the park today.
Hiked part way into Iceberg canyon. the view looking back out at sun and more rain showers, and the trail into the canyon. Windy, rainy and cool. The sun was in and out in patches.
Lots of deep slot canyons here, lots of cool looking clouds. Very beautiful.
Clouds settling down lower. In the far left you can see how low the snow line is. Flowers are blooming. Purple bud on a bush, snowball sand verbena, blue dicks, huge evening primroses, purple sage, paintbrush.
It even rained on the bus. If you look close you can see that some of them are slush or grapple looking drops, it is very cold. Sunset.
The next day dawned with clear blue skies. Only up into the 60’s, but it felt great in the sun. John on a trail out of the campground. Joshua tree.
At the saddle we had this view of Calico basin and Joshua trees. We found another trail and went up to the top of the hill and it had this pile of rocks on top.
Fritillary on a desert marigold, Indian paintbrush has a weak stem so it grow inside bushes, Mohave aster, winter fat flower , barrel cactus, beavertail prickly pear blooms.
