April 9-10, 2014 Zion National Park, Utah

We went a mere 60 miles to Zion National Park. We went to the first come first serve campground at 11 am and got one of the last  sites. All the reserve able sites  have been reserved for months.

Just east of Hurricane, Utah along the Virgin River on the way to Zion. This lizard must live in our camp site, he spent the afternoon sunning  on this tree.

The sign at Angels Landing-‘Since 2004 six people have died falling from the cliffs on this route. The l.5 mile round tri route from Scout Lookout to Angels landing is a strenuous climb on a narrow ridge over 1,400 feet above the canyon floor. This route is not recommended during high winds, storms or if snow or ice is present’ The picture is the top of the trail-right up that ridge. They have a fixed cable you can hang on to.  The first 3 miles are switch back steps built by the CCC straight up. I hiked it years ago, it was pretty thrilling.  John walking on the trail along the river. Lots of spring green in the trees.

The bus in spring green. It was 88 degrees, so we  laid in the cool river.
