We took a day off and relaxed.
Beautiful spring green maples. I love this color. This one inch iridescent green beetle ran through camp today, but he was moving so fast I only got one photo of him and he was under grass, yellow wallflower, huge black beetle on the bike path, and a lily.
John grilled these half heads of romaine and then added salad dressing, chopped veges, nuts and goat cheese for our salad tonight. He also served them with roasted pesto, parmesan tomatoes. Yum!
The next morning it was cloudy. We took the shuttle up to the Court of the Patriarchs and hiked up to the Grotto along the river. Above are four of the Patriarchs. They are named after people from the bible. Mt Abraham, Mt Isaac, Mt Jacob is the white peak behind Mt Moroni an important figure in the Book of Mormon. Looking back at the canyon by the Patriarchs.
Looking up canyon. The horses for horseback riding.
The bridge over the river to the trail to Emerald Pools. We had lunch at the Grotto picnic area. Here is a wild turkey looking for handouts.
The view across the valley from the Grotto. After hiking we went into the town of Springdale which is at the entrance to the park. This piece of artwork is a Lovelock. You can conveniently buy at a local gift shop these double heart locks that only lock once and have your names engraved on them and then you lock them onto this sculpture to publically declare your love for each other.
A cool bicycle being ridden by a figure with their hair blowing in the wind, wind sculpture. The bike turns around depending on the direction of the wind and the wheels turn. A sign at Zion Outdoor sports shop-‘Spring is nature’s was of saying let’s party’ and a wind chime made from slices of bottles melted into rings. I am going to make one when I get back to Colorado to my kiln.
Downtown Springfield is right outside the park to the west and has great views of it. I got back to the bus after touring town, visiting galleries and found Belinda and Ollie from Jackson, Wyo. visiting. John knows Ollie from kayaking. He ran into them at the brewery while I was perusing town. They are down here mountain biking.
Belinda and Ollie.
