April 12, 2014 Zion Canyon, Utah

We drove to the canyon rim and hiked to the Canyon Overlook. Here are parts of the trail, they say there are some drop offs.

View from the overlook. You can see the road switch backing up.  The tops of these huge cliffs is really cool looking.

Checkerboard mesa. At this altitude there are ponderosa pines.

Coming back into the canyon from the east. This cirque is the Towers of the Virgin. The one in the middle with red dripping down the side is called the the Alter of Sacrifice. This is the view from behind the Human  history museum.
