Exciting day at the fairgrounds today. We saw a dog show and a horse race.
Dog show. There was even a doggie massage-she seemed to be doing really well.
Dog wash. I have never seen so many dogs being groomed. In the campground, in the parking lot and in the building. It was interesting, but kind of slow, not much happening . The horse races were another story. What a rush to stand by the track.
I had no idea the saddles were so funky and that they rode in such a wierd position. It hurt my knees to look at this. Horses racing by.
You could see better from above, but it was not as exciting. This basket is offically done!
The edge of this basket is a new stitch for me, the fern stitch. I spent forever making this small one. I am trying to learn the diamond stitch. I think I got the hang of it by the last half. Will make a lid for this, then make another one and see if I can get the stitch right on the whole basket.
Sunset from out campspot. We walked over to the carnival after dinner tonight. It is at the fairgrounds we are camped at. Not sure how I did this carnival shot, but it says it all, the lights were the best part. Pretty high tech one, not sure if they all are now days, I haven’t been to one in a long time. I really wanted this rasta penguin for the bus. We left Farmington and drove to La Jara, Colorado to visit our friends Fred and Laurie. This is Dolce, New Mexico, it is the capital of the Jicarillo Apache reservation. Lovely high altitude town.
Jicarilla Apache reservation stuff. Notice the old Apache Haven Hotel sign. Next we went through Chama, New Mexico. Another beautiful high altitude town. It is one end of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic railroad, a steam engine train that runs from Chama to Antonito, Colorado and back. Down town Chama.
We left New Mexico and into Colorado. Nothing is leafed out yet at the border. We saw this partial Catholic church by the Catholic cemetary in Mogote, Colorado.
Then we drove through Antonito, Colorado, the other end of the scenic railroad. A little public art in Antonito. I finished the little blue basket. I did the diamond stitch flawlessly on the lid, so it came out looking ok.
We are now at Fred and Laurie’s. We went 4 wheeling on their property. John giving Laurie a ride on thier 4-wheeler. Yes, John driving an ATV! Their peacocks were struting their stuff .
The bus at Fred and Laurie’s.
