Forest fire smoke makes for colorful sunsets. Our house in front of our house. We are packing up and leaving tomorrow!!! Finally will be on the road again.
Bridge on the Poudre River trail bike path at sunset. All of my basket centers. Fused glass set in resin with holes drilled round them. Some are pendants that didn’t sell for smaller baskets. Can’t wait to start working with them.
When we arrived in Fort Collins I planted the basil plants we have had with us all winter in the ground. They liked the ground better, also the hot sun. I harvested them and got 24 packed cups of basil and made about a gallon of pesto. Should last us for awhile. Heading out of town through Denver to the mountians. On the road again.
Through the Eisenhower tunnel. It is cloudy and rainy. The high mountains are obscured. We parked in Carbondale in front of our friends Martha and Jimjim’s house. They work for the forest service.
It was in the 90’s yesterday, but today only in the 70’s and rainy. Had got get the outdoor heater out for dinner on the deck. One of the campground hosts at the Maroon Bells campgrounds had to leave early, so we interviewed for the position. The bells are outside of Aspen and one of the most beautiful places in the world. We got the job for 30 days, starting Tuesday.
The host campsite is secluded, away from the campgrounds. It has water, sewer , propane and solar power. And this sweet picnic spot. When the sun is out this is one of the most photographed places, but the clouds are obscuring the peaks. I will have time to take many more scenic shots while we are here.
There is wild life in the area, deer, elk, bears, moose and who knows what else. Hare bell and queen Anne’s lace with fireweed. We went for a little hike while we were there. John in the aspens. The mountains are blooming now.
Aspen trees, indian paint brush, sneeze weed, yellow hanging flowers and asters.
John on the newly built bridge over Maroon Creek. Green moss.
Monkshoods and a close up of one, it looks like a little monks hood, and a wild rose. It cleared a bit for lunch. John relaxing.
Monkshoods and Queen Anne’s lace, and a white flower. This small cloud spread out over the lake. We have the weekend to relax before starting work.
