Chilling at the Maroon Bells and enjoying working as campground hosts.
My friend Cathy came to visit us. She is camped in her tent in our site. I made this small basket and taught Cathy how to make the other small one. Great first basket!
Penstamen, black and white beetle and this little garter snake was in our driveway trying to get warm in the sun. I saw this cool hammock tent in one of the campsites today.
Cathy and John hiking this afternoon on the East Maroon Creek trail and Sue and John dressed for work tonight.
Cathy and I went to the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen. It is lots of really nice flowers, water features and John Denver’s songs inscribed into granite. Very pretty. These are the restrooms, done up nice with river rocks.
A close up of the river rock walls and some more flowers. Cathy and I in front of a nice flower display.
John went with us up to the bells. He took so long taking our photo we started goofing off and laughing. We walked the scenic trail and then Cathy and I hiked 3. 2 miles more back to camp down West Maroon Valley. Part of it was through deep dark forest and it was carpeted with soft moss.
John prepared us stir fry for dinner. When the sun shines I want to be outside but it is hot in the sun and there are numerous insects so John got me this little tent for my birthday. I can sit out in the trees, read or work on baskets and view the wilderness through mesquito netting.
Marmot, roses at the John Denver Sanctuary, horn worm and butterfly. Sunset during our hostly rounds tonigyt was lovely.
Three small baskets so far!
