We hiked up to Crater Lake and a ways up West Maroon Creek.
Another perfect day at the Maroon Bells. People built many of the drift wood log pile at the end of Crater Lake into Tipi’s. The lake is at the base of the Bells.
John headed up West Maroon Creek as clouds moved though. Wild life seen today-chipmonk, deek, marmot and pika.
Tributary entering West Maroon Creek. Blue gentian and a yellow catapiller.
Chiming bells, a rayless yellow flower, Colorado columbine and seed heads. Lots of pink fireweed and yellow flowers.
John higher up West Maroon Creek. We had lunch here. The sun came back out. A view back at Crater lake through some fireweed.
Above where we had lunch, below one of the bells. A rock with a leaf looking design, fireweed, yarrow and a monkshood seed head.
Curley dock, a cincfoils and blue flax. More clouds rolled in as we neared Maroon lake on the way back. But no rain yet.
Goldenrod, blue gentian, purple gentian and snow berries.
