The trail starts with these tight bushes. Of John had worn his rainforest camo you would not have been able to see him, but he didn't so you can see him on the trail. Nice wall of sword ferns along the trail.
Views from the cliff trail of Cape Arago.
Through thick trees. A view looking down into Norton Gulch. The trail does go down to this bay too.
Norton Gulch at lower tide has moss covered rocks. Amanita mushroom, moss in the rock layers, A nice memorial on a bench, says Mother and Daughters bound through love to this land, this beautiful Oregon coast, white fungus on a branch, green and fall colors in a crack, flowers from Shoreline gardens.
View down the coast. The entrance to Shoreline gardens. In the early 1900's this was part of large estate with a show place three story mansion. With an indoor pool, ballroom and 5 acre formal gardens including a japanese style garden built around a 100 foot lily pond, rose garden and more. The mansion burned down and all that is left is the formal gardens. It is owned by the state and is a state park.
At higher wave levels the waves come up over this. The waves were smaller today, but still huge.
The light house is the white dot on the islands off the coast. It is not open to the public. The camera somehow got set on pine hole effect when I tried to get this wave and I got this interesting photo.
Big wave. Sunset reflected in the pools left at low tide in Sunset bay.
Sunset at Sunset bay.
