April 30, 2021 Goldfield, NV to Bishop, California

93 degrees in Bishop today and sunny.

We stopped at a stop sign in Goldfield, NV this am and the bus died and would not start. John replaced a solenoid in the middle of the street and we were on our way. Some scenes along our drive. A dry lakebed west of Tonopah, the White mountains, Montgomery pass 7,179 feet over the White Mountains, and the Sierras over a green irrigated field.

The border into California and the fruit police. Once we got to  Bishop, John informed me that we had been driving on a flat tire. One of the inside tires or the 4 on the back. I about had a heart attack. He said Bishop was the closest place to fix it. So here we are at Perez Tire in Bishop. They had to take both tires off on that side to get to it. It had a big hole in the tread, so we needed a new tire. John was planning to buy 4 new ones for the back when we get to Oregon in May. Luckily they had a good used one they sold us and we were on our way. The tire was in Big Pine, 20 miles south, they drove down and got it for us in record time. While we were waiting in the parking lot we had the generator on and the AC. It was at least 95 + in the parking lot. Then either the AC or the thermostat failed and we had no AC.

Here we are at the Highlander RV park in Bishop, California with no AC. It was 98 inside the bus, so we went to the Mountain Rambler Brewery for dinner and of course beer. Here is John with his burger and shieldback IPA. I had a peaklet porter. The beer and food were yummy. We missed the beer yoga tonight. Darn. After dinner when it was dark the AC/thermostat  decided to work Good thing, it was still 98 in the bus.

Beautiful, historic, downtown Bishop, California. I finished this basket on the way here. It is made with dyed pine needles, polyester cord and glass beads. The center is a piece of dichroic glass I made that is beveled and polished. It has silver dichroic on the bottom and blue green patterned dichroic in the middle layer. It is 6 x 3 inches.

A view of the basket with the center. I started this new basket while we were waiting for the tire repair. The center was two pairs of earrings that did not sell, so I fused them together and here they are.
