June 3-4, 2022 Echo to LaGrande, Oregon

High of 73, cloudy and rainy.

We filled up this morning. The fuel was $5.79, but with our Kroger card discount it was $5.29. We drove along the Columbia River again today, but are out of the Gorge. The canyon walls are volcanic and green.

We are now in Echo, Oregon parked at the Echo Ridge Winery. Welcome to Echo, which is along the old Oregon Trail. The farm implement display in downtown. The bus at Echo Ridge Winery, we are at the far left of the top part of the photo.

Yard art in downtown Echo. The winery is a harvest host site, but most don't have signs for us. Darn we are missing the Chocolate and Wine event at the winery. Beautiful, historic downtown Echo. There is not much to it.

Historic houses in Echo. The bottom one belonged to the the Koontz family, who were the founders of the town. The town is  named after their daughter Echo.

Our host Kim at Echo Ridge Winery pouring our tasting. The tasting room is built from an old grain elevator.

After our tasting at Echo Ridge we walked to Sn o Road Winery in downtown and Lois poured our tasting. My sweet angel husband John.

I walked up to the cemetery above town. This was the largest grave memorial.

It rained off and on all day with a high of 71. Sights from our drive today. Pendleton, fields, The we came to this huge pass, we thought we were going to stay on the plains, but we are now in mountains. It is all unbelievably bright spring green. There were pink and yellow wildflowers on the pass, then into pine trees. We headed to Hot Lake Springs and the hot spring water in the rain. We traveled along the historic Oregon trail much of the way.

The bus at Grande Hot Springs RV resort. On the way I finished this basket. It is made from dyed and natural pine needles, polyester thread and glass beads. The center is a piece of dichroic glass that I fused.  It is 9 1/2 x 3 inches. Very colorful.

We headed directly to the springs. Soaking pool around 96 degrees.

John in the therapeutic pool around 103 degrees. The view from the resort.

The canal running through the property carrying the spring water. It is very lush with blooming water lilies. Hot fountain in front of the resort.

I made a delicious dinner of kale quinoa salad with chicken parmesan nuggets  on top. John having dinner after soaking with a bottle of wine we picked up at one of our harvest host wineries.
