June 6-7, 2022 La Grande, Oregon

 73 and mostly rainy today.

Rain storms alternated with sunny times.  This huge thunderboomer brought heavy rain, lightening and thunder. Twice we got thrown out of the hot pools because they closed them for thunder and lightening. Sunny big puddles after the storm.

The bus in the resort from the trail on the other side of the canal. Lily pad leaves. It is cloudy, so the lilies are closed.

I started this new masterpiece. John cooked us yummy steaks and sweet potatoes for dinner.

High of 66 partly sunny with rain showers. We walked over to the 1906 Hot Lake Lodge on the other side of the lake from the RV park. Water lilies in front of the lodge.

Part of the hot pool area. Caution Lake is Dangerous, Stay out, stay alive.

Hot Lake Lodge. It was originally built as a sanitarium and hospital with hot water treatments. This caption on the photo says Portion of the glass enclosed, steam heated veranda. Hot Lake Sanitarium, Hot Lake Oregon.

Sitting area in the lodge. The Thermal Pub is closed on Mondays. Boo.

Front of the Hot Lake Lodge. The first of the huge storms coming across the valley.

Rain while we were soaking in the hot springs. Hot Lake from the RV park side of the lake.

Stained glass at Hot Lake Lodge, Caution this is the discharge of hot springs water used to heat the lodge. Installed in 1904 it uses a wooden pipe to gravity flow water from the hot springs to the Lodge and then into Hot Lake. Please keep back as this part of the lake is scalding.  Lilacs at the RV park,  and a sign saying catch and release fishing and warning this water my exceed 165 degrees, do not enter canal. I wonder what kind of fish live in 165 degree water? Sunset tonight.

This morning I turned on the microwave and it made horrible noises and black smoke. The microwave/convection oven is now out of service. Bummer/
