November 5, 2022 Albuquerque, New Mexico

High of 57, partly cloudy and partly windy.

We went to Petroglyph National Monument today. It was very interesting. But after the rural, red rock Anasazi petroglyphs we have been seeing, this was in the middle of town and you could hear cars and see houses much of it. Kind of ruins the ambiance. The sign, the trail head and the view.  John on the trail. The lava rock escarpment ahead is where the petroglyphs are. The escarpment n 17 miles long and has 25,000 petroglyphs along it. Most are concentrated in 4 locations which each have their own trail. We only walked one of the trails. The glyphs are all on black lava rock. Under the black desert varnish it is gray, so many of them are hard to see. They also have fences so you can't get very close. If you have binoculars and a telephoto lens you can see them better. I didn't get a good look at many of them till I blew up my photos in my computer

Some of the petroglyphs seen.

Petroglyphs seen. Near Petroglyph Monument  we stopped at Lava Rock brewery. they even had a petroglyph beer. The bartenders were busy and told us to have a seat a waitress would come by. But no one did, so we left with out even a taste.

The Echter's glass show in Arvada Colorado  is now in progress. I have three pieces in the show. I am happy to say that  two of them won ribbons!
